Eating disorders are responsible for more loss of life than any other type of psychological illness.

In the past ten years the amount of children with eating disorders has increased by one third.

In 2006, the NHS treated 58 children under the age of 10 for eating disorders, 35 of which, were male. And the amount of females under the age of 18 that were admitted to hospitals due to eating disorders in 2006, was the highest it had ever been in the past 10 years.

This is only a minortiy of people who are suffering, a large amount of people who are affected by eating disorders will suffer in silence for years as they do not know where, or simply do not want to be helped.

Someone i have spoken to was dismissed of having a disorder as her doctor said she did not yet look "ill enough".

We chose this subject as we really wanted to find out more about a subject that is not well known is todays society. As, eating disorders are typically generalised to teenage girls we want to break that myth by finding out more about the causes and effects of the disorder in children.
We have already been around the country interviewing males who suffered from anorexia/bulimia and have gained an interesting insight into the time when they had the disorder.
